Jim Girard is vice president of Human Resources, Security, and Environmental Health and Safety for Harris Government Communications Systems (GCS). He reports to the GCS group president. GCS develops, produces, integrates and supports advanced communications and information systems that solve the mission-critial challenges of its defense, national intelligence and civil agency customers worldwide.
Prior to joining Harris in 2014, Mr. Girard held roles of increasing responsibility in all HR disciplines at United Technologies Corporation (UTC). He most recently served as vice president of Human Resources for Sikorsky Aircraft’s operations organization.
Prior to that role, Mr. Girard led the company’s talent management function, overseeing succession planning, talent acquisition, executive development, and M&A support at the UTC corporate office.
His previous positions include vice president of Human Resources for UTC Fire & Security’s Global Fire Products segment; director of Human Resources for UTC Fire & Security’s Security Services division, based in the United Kingdom, and president of UTC Fire & Security’s European Works Council; director of Human Resources for UTC Fire & Security’s Americas region; the lead HR position for UTC Power; and HR manager in the Pratt & Whitney division.
Mr. Girard holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Eastern Connecticut State University and a master’s degree in management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
