Joyce A. Cooper is the Manager of Corporate Diversity and Advocacy in the Human Resources Division at Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) in Omaha, Nebraska. She created and implemented the corporate diversity and inclusion strategic plan that includes recruitment, retention, employee education, community outreach and corporate accountability. Joyce’s strengths are being a change agent in companies while connecting and cultivating people.
Prior to joining OPPD, Joyce served as the Managing Director of INROADS/Nebraska-Western Iowa for eight years. She also served as the Director of Education where she participated in the opening of two major science and technology centers in the United States.
Joyce’s community involvement includes serving as the Chairperson of the Love’s Jazz & Arts Center Board of Directors and as a Board member on the INROADS/ Midwest Regional Board and the Heartland Family Service Board. She also represents Omaha Public Power District on the Steering Committee of the city-wide Omaha Diversity Week alongside representatives from ConAgra Foods, Union Pacific, Mutual of Omaha, Wells Fargo Bank and the Greater Omaha Chamber.
Joyce Cooper is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. She earned her Bachelor degree from Cornell University and a Certificate in Managing Nonprofit Organizations from Case Western University. Her Master’s degree is in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma.
Joyce is married to Rudyard Cooper and they have two adult sons.
