From Intern to the Executive Ranks: Aliya Willis Turns her INROADS Internship into a 20-Year Career at Bank of America
Published April 2026Aliya Willis has built a career in banking that spans more than 20 years, defined by leadership, service, and impact. Her journey began in 2001 with INROADS, when she joined Bank of America as a Credit Underwriter Intern. That opportunity opened the door to corporate America and helped her discover a lasting passion for finance. “INROADS gave me the structure and guidance I needed,” Aliya recalls.
After graduating from Georgia State University in 2004 with a degree in Finance, she went on to earn a Master’s in Accounting along with FINRA Series 7, 63, and 79 licenses. She returned to Bank of America, where she has built her entire career. Today, she serves as Senior Vice President and Sr. Relationship Manager, working with clients in the restaurant industry. Over the years, she has become a trusted partner to businesses and private equity groups, helping them grow while strengthening communities.
Her influence reaches well beyond her client relationships. Aliya co-chairs her business segment’s Diversity and Inclusion board and serves on the Global Commercial Bank’s National D&I board, championing equity and representation across the institution. Her leadership reflects a commitment not only to business growth but also to creating space for diverse voices to thrive.
Looking back, Aliya credits INROADS with shaping the foundation of her career and instilling the confidence to pursue opportunities. “INROADS exposed me to corporate America early in my collegiate career. I interviewed with multiple Fortune 500 companies and was fortunate to receive numerous offers and chose the company I wanted to work for. I also made lifelong friendships with people I met through INROADS,” she reflects.
From her start as an INROADS intern to her role as Senior Vice President at Bank of America, Aliya Willis has shown that success is about more than building a career—it’s about building a legacy of impact, leadership, and community.
