Engineering a Future of Innovation & Impact:
Aaron Sneed's INROADS-Powered Journey

Published September 2025

From his first engineering role as an INROADS intern to launching a national defense startup with a mission to uplift underserved communities, Aaron Sneed is the embodiment of strategic innovation, continuous learning, and servant leadership.

With a Top-Secret Security Clearance and cross-industry accomplishments spanning aerospace, defense, medical, laser machinery, and automotive sectors, Aaron attributes much of his success to a pivotal experience early in his career: his INROADS internship.

Aaron began his INROADS journey in 2004 as a Design Engineer intern at Sikorsky Aircraft, a renowned aerospace manufacturer now part of Lockheed Martin. The leadership development and real-world experience gained through INROADS provided Aaron with the technical foundation and professional mentorship needed to pursue a career in engineering. “INROADS gave me exposure, training, and mentoring that I still use as tools in my life and career today,” Aaron shares. The INROADS program gave him the foundation to transition confidently into corporate engineering, laying the groundwork for a career defined by continuous growth and meaningful impact.

Today, Aaron is a Program Manager at Northrop Grumman, where he leads new technology product introductions and successfully manages aircraft marketing and sales campaigns. His career has been marked by major milestones—including driving cost-saving initiatives, advancing lean practices, and overseeing multi-industry integration projects.

Aaron’s impact isn’t limited to corporate leadership. He is also the founder of DOES (Defense Operations & Execution Solutions)—a cutting-edge defense technology startup that merges innovation with equity. DOES is more than a business venture. It is a mission-driven initiative to establish sustainable design and manufacturing facilities in underserved U.S. communities, aiming to strengthen the defense industrial base while creating opportunity in areas that need it most.

This commitment to inclusion and community empowerment reflects Aaron’s deep-rooted values—and the kind of future-forward thinking that INROADS helped nurture early on.

Aaron’s pursuit of excellence continues academically as well. He recently earned his MBA from Boston University and is currently working toward his third graduate degree. Through it all, he remains passionate about giving back, particularly by mentoring young professionals in STEM fields. He advises current INROADS students to “walk with your head up and be proud NOW of your FUTURE accomplishments.”

For Aaron Sneed, INROADS was more than just a program—it was a launchpad for a lifetime of leadership, innovation, and purpose. From corporate engineering to community-focused entrepreneurship, he exemplifies what it means to use one’s skills not only to advance in their career—but to uplift others along the way.
