CELEBRATING HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

This Hispanic Heritage Month, INROADS joyfully celebrates the courage, resilience, and spirit of our students and alumni who are shaping the future while paving the way for the next generation. We pay tribute to those who live by the spirit of “Siempre Adelante”—always forward — and honor the journeys of those who embody determination, carry forward the sacrifices of their families, and uplift their communities with every step they take.

From first-generation college students to professionals advancing in fields where representation is limited, our community is proving that heritage is a foundation for greatness. INROADS is honored to help these changemakers dream bigger, achieve more, and lead with pride and confidence.

Join us in honoring their stories, celebrating their impact, and moving forward together—with courage and heart.

Build courage. Inspire heart.
Help move the next generation forward.

“With Courage and Heart: Siempre Adelante” reflects my journey because courage and heart are at the center of everything I do. Courage pushes me to keep going, even when I face challenges or doubts. Heart reminds me why I’m doing it—with the thought of carrying my family, my culture, and my community with me. They motivate me to move forward and never lose sight of my purpose and who I am. My parents’ support has been the foundation that gives me the courage to pursue higher education and dream big.

As a former foster youth, my culture means everything to me. It grounds me, empowers me, and reminds me of the strength that comes from overcoming adversity. I feel incredibly proud to represent both the Latino and foster communities—especially for those who may feel unseen or unheard, as I once did. My heritage inspires me to succeed not just for myself, but so I can uplift others, create opportunities, and be the voice I once needed. Giving back and paving the way forward is a responsibility I carry with pride and purpose.

The two words, courage and heart, are the foundation upon which our journey as Latino-Americans is built. We embody courage every day. As first-generation college students, for many of us, it is our first time navigating a corporate setting or attending university. This path is difficult, but we pursue it with courage, knowing that our result will be worth the struggle. We are driven by the chance to succeed and the sacrifices our parents made for us. Here is where "heart" guides us.

As a first-generation Latina, ‘With Courage and Heart: Siempre Adelante’ reflects how I move through school, work, and community. Courage is what I’ve needed to step into rooms without a roadmap, ask questions I wasn’t sure I was ‘supposed’ to ask, and claim opportunities that didn’t always feel designed for someone like me. Heart is what keeps me grounded—honoring my family’s sacrifices, my culture, and my responsibility to lift as I climb.

My heritage and culture inspire me to achieve success because they are rooted in resilience, hard work, and deep community values. As a first-generation Latina, I carry the sacrifices, dreams, and strength of my family with me into every space I enter. I’ve watched generations before me work tirelessly with limited resources, yet limitless determination—and that fuels my drive every single day. I am proud of our unshakable spirit, our ability to turn struggle into strength, and our way of uplifting one another through it all.

My parents came to the United States from Mexico with nothing but the American dream to give their children a better life. Through their sacrifices and unwavering determination, I am living proof that with hard work, perseverance, and focus, success is possible.

My career journey began with INROADS internships at Arthur Andersen, where I worked in the Chicago office during the summers of 1995 and 1996 following my freshman year.
