INROADS AND THE WASHINGTON WIZARDS PARTNER
TO CELEBRATE STUDENT VOICES DURING BLACK HISTORY MONTH
The Washington Wizards, in partnership with INROADS, proudly recognized the winners of the Dr. E.B. Henderson Essay Contest during Black History Month. Open to high school seniors across the DMV area, the contest invited students to honor pioneers like Dr. Henderson and Benjamin Banneker by writing about individuals who were “firsts” in their fields. The inspiring entries showcased the creativity, insight, and passion of the next generation of changemakers.

Ten finalists were awarded scholarships totaling more than $30,000, with individual awards ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 to support their post-secondary education. Winners were celebrated during a Wizards home game, featured across the team's digital platforms, and received complimentary tickets to the event. Congratulations to all the students who participated, especially the INROADS College Links scholars who were winners, for their thoughtful work and bright futures ahead.
