THEY'VE WALKED THE PATH. NOW THEY'RE HOLDING THE DOOR OPEN.

Since 1970, INROADS has been a place where women find their footing, build confidence, and grow into leaders.

This Women's History Month, our women leaders are turning their experience into guidance for the leaders coming next.

“Don’t be afraid to set big goals that frighten you. I used to be terrified of public speaking, but now I speak to thousands LIVE every day.”

"Tap into their natural gifts and talents that make them a unique leader. Do not shy away from them. Although some might be different than what many might consider a traditional male perspective on leadership, they can be your cutting edge that builds loyalty and impacts your goals and bottom line in alternate ways.”

ANDREA NIKKI GASKIN-CAPEHART
President and CEO of Pinellas County Urban
INROADS Alumna 1995

Andrea Nikki Gaskin-Capehart is President and CEO of the Pinellas County Urban League, where she leads efforts to advance economic empowerment and community leadership. A graduate of Florida A&M University and the University of South Florida, she began her professional journey with INROADS, interning at Barnett Bank in roles spanning from branch operations to commercial lending. The mission she learned as an intern—to develop and place talented minority youth in business and industry and prepare them for leadership—has shaped her career ever since. Today, she leads with that same focus: preparing the next generation to step into corporate and community leadership roles.

“Your timeline is yours alone. Don't let society's expectations make you feel behind when your path looks different from others. Every detour in your journey is preparation for something greater, even when you can't see it in the moment. Start before you feel ready. Don't wait until everything is perfect to pursue your goals. Preparation matters, but perfection is the enemy of progress. Think beyond personal achievement to generational impact and remember that persistence always beats perfection.”

“You deserve to be in the room—your voice and perspective add value. Don’t wait for permission to speak, lead, or take up space. Never tie your identity solely to a company or title. Invest in your skills, your reputation, and your personal brand so your value travels with you. Most importantly, keep growing. Say yes to opportunities that stretch you, trust your instincts, and continue evolving into the next version of yourself.”

“You do not need permission to lead and you do not need to fit a mold to be impactful. Your perspective is valuable because of where you come from, not in spite of it. Be bold about your goals, disciplined about your craft, and generous with what you learn along the way. And when you make it through the door, hold it open.”
