ST. LOUIS, MO, DECEMBER 5, 2019 — André Powell has recently been appointed to the INROADS, Inc. National Board of Directors. Powell is the vice president of Finance for Operations & Quality at Collins Aerospace, a unit of United Technologies Corporation (UTC). He brings more than 26 years of financial experience to the board position.
INROADS, a national nonprofit, trains and develops talented, underrepresented youth for business and industry by preparing them for corporate and community leadership. The nonprofit is coming up on 50 years of changing the lives of youth across the nation.

Harper, Jr., INROADS president and CEO. “His global reach broadens our sphere of influence to impact more students, and his multiple roles in the financial arena will undoubtedly help us continue to enhance our mission.”
Powell began his career as an INROADS intern immediately after high school. He then worked four consecutive summers at UTC, graduating from Howard University with an accounting degree and a master’s from both Purdue University and TiasNimbas Business School.
“My older sister and role model was the first INROADS intern that I knew,” said Powell. “I started my professional career at INROADS immediately after graduating from high school. That experience early on in my life has been very transformative.”
His career has given him numerous roles both domestically and internationally. Powell has led finance teams at Pratt & Whitney, Howard University and UTC. As a leader in the world of finance, he has helped advise acquisitions, increase financial stability throughout administrations and partnered with organizations across the globe. He has also served as an executive sponsor for several professional opportunities, including the African American Forum.
“INROADS provided me with a tremendous opportunity to fulfill my dreams, and I’m excited to join this team to help open doors for the next generation,” said Powell.
Powell will serve on the INROADS National Board of Directors for a three-year board term, working with the board member team to advance the organization’s mission to support and develop talented youth across the nation.
