As a UMSL accounting student, Steven Harris found his professional calling during an internship with RubinBrown through the INROADS program, dedicated to placing underrepresented youth in corporate and community leadership roles.

"INROADS led me to believe, 'I could make it here,'" Steven shared. "A lot of good people wanted to see me be successful, and that was enough for me to pursue a career at RubinBrown."

Steven, impressed by the firm's culture and people, knew he had found the right fit. After graduating in 2000, he joined RubinBrown and, over the last two decades, ascended the executive ladder. In 2010, he became a partner in Entrepreneurial and Assurance Services groups, later chairing the board of the National Association of Black Accountants.

In 2022, RubinBrown appointed Steven as Managing Partner, making him the fourth Black managing partner in the firm's 70-year history. Reflecting on his journey, Steven attributes his success to the lessons learned from his father, E.C., emphasizing the importance of treating people well and delivering quality work. Steven's dedication to service and his father's values have shaped his remarkable career, making his decision to stay close to home and attend UMSL one of the best choices he ever made.
