THE PASSING OF AN ERA – HONORING REP. JOHN LEWIS AND C.T. VIVIAN

My heart is heavy as I witness the passing of an era. The passing of #RepJohnLewis and #CTVivian is marked with particular reflection, because it is their work that paved the way for INROADS’ mission. Their bravery stared injustice in the face. Their commitment allowed them to stay the course for generations – drafting legislation and mentoring other leaders to continue the fight. And, their love tempered us all – reminding us forever more that it is a more powerful weapon than hate.

Even in this moment of sadness, I find solace knowing that I am able to peacefully sit in the shade of the large shadow of their legacies. I also find glory that the movement they started in places like the 1963 March on Washington gave vision to our founder, Frank Carr. Their shoulders allow us to continue the Mission of INROADS for years to come, and for this we are truly grateful.

To the families of Rev. Vivian and Rep. Lewis, thank you for lending your loved ones. #standwithINROADS
